Dreaming of water
Life, lineage and cleansing. The clarity and motion of the water carry the meaning.
Water is life-source and lineage. Fast-moving water at night is nsuo a ɛretene, a season already in motion that you did not start. Clear, still water speaks of peace and clarity; muddy or violent water of confusion or contested provision.
Nsuo a ɛdɔ no, ɛnkɔ dan mu.
Rivers mark thresholds, the Jordan before Canaan, the Jabbok before Jacob’s new name. Passing through water points to a transition you will make, and a promise of presence within it.
Clear water is widely read as knowledge, provision and lawful earning; turbulent or dark water as hardship or unlawful gain. Drinking clean water is a favourable sign.
Water is the classic image of the unconscious: what is below the surface of your awareness. Calm water suggests emotional settledness, turbulent or rising water suggests feeling flooded by something you have not yet named.
Water dreams are strongly associated with emotional processing during REM sleep, the stage where the brain works through feeling with the stress chemistry turned down. Calm water tends to accompany settled periods; fast, dark or rising water tends to appear in weeks of pressure. It is a readout of how you have been feeling, not a forecast of what is coming.
What changes the meaning
Scripture
“When thou passest through the waters, I {will be} with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”Isaiah 43:2 · KJV
